Ascension (The Demon Hunters, #1) by A.S. Fenichel
This book is a wonderful start to a new series. This is Lord Gabriel Thurston and Lady Belinda Carlisle’s story. He is just home from war and finds his fiancée much changed. He soon finds out she is a demon hunter and joins her in the hunt. There are so many feeling in this book, horror, angst, viscous demons, brave demon hunters (who I hope will have their own stories in upcoming books), laughs, tears, fears, deceptions, discoveries, losses, victories, love, devotion and plenty of steam to get us to this books HEA. This can be read as a standalone but it is still an ongoing story and I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

MY REVIEW

I really liked that this took place in Regency London as that is one of my favorite time periods for fiction. I especially liked the fact that Lillian Dellacourt was both a refined lady and the most feared and merciless demon hunter in The Company. I really fell in love with her character and her ability to be both at the same time!

My Review

GRACE IN HOLLYWOOD (a Grace Michelle Mystery) by Kari Bovee was a great historical mystery read. The book takes place in 1924 as Grace Michelle is a lead costume designer of a star-studded film in Hollywood. However, things are far from perfect as Grace also has to contend with her husband’s debt, her sister’s death, and the troubled girl she’s fostering. I really liked the fostering aspect of the book as it is the first time I have read a mystery book with a main character being a foster parent and I really liked it.

My Review

THE ACCIDENTAL WORLD by KA Griffin was a great read! Ethan Scott life is forever changed when he finds himself torn from his own world and in NHHMM, a world both alike and vastly different from the one he has known his whole life. I really loved the NHHMM  world as the author did a great job making it seem so real that I found myself drawn to both the world and Ethan himself.

My Review

Finding Family in a Far-Away Land: An Adoption Story by Amanda Wall is a really great kids book that helps kids to understand cultural and the ways that two people can experience the same event differently. I personally think this book is great for helping to teach empathy to kids.

My Review

THE ONLY WAY HOME by Jeanette Minniti was a great Historical Fiction, Adventure, Coming of Age book. I enjoyed how the author stayed true to the time period while also creating a story that was both interesting and realistic. I enjoyed following Robert on his journey. Overall, it was a great read written by a clearly talented author!

My Review

LAUREL'S MARVELOUS KINGDOM was a really cute kids book that would be a great book for young children to read or have read to them. The pictures are great and help kids to understand the words by providing context cues. The book is the perfect length as well.

My Review

 TO EVERY PAGE A TURNING: One Life's Journey by Carl Buccellato was a pretty good historical fiction book. I found it a bit slow at first, but after a bit of reading I started to really get into it. I liked the fact that the historical fiction was in fact a parallel the author's own life, as I felt like it gave the story a level or realism that fiction often lacks. I personally felt real sympathy as the author led me through the story filled with success and family building, then suffering and divorce. These events made me feel very personally invested in the book and help me to build an understanding of those involved as I read through the book. I liked the author's writing style and the way it slowly reeled me in. I hope the author continues to write in this genre as I would love to read more of his work.
