My Review
PECCADILLO AT THE PALACE (An Annie Oakley Mystery) by Kari Bovee was right away different from the other books in the series as it was a case of a royal murder as this time the victim was a royal escort. I enjoyed the change of pace this brought to the series especially with how things just keep piling up for Annie Oakley with a sick husband and an assassination attempt on the queen. I think this one is my favorite in the series, but I still have one more book to go!

My Review
Shoot Like a Girl (A PreQuel Novella to Girl With A Gun) by Kari Bovee was a great audio book that was impossible not to enjoy. I really felt for Annie Oakley as she had to deal with hardships and mistreatment from the couple that employed her. But I felt relieved when she chose to stand up when another was in danger of the same cruelty. As an animal lover myself I really connected with Annie!

My Review
THE LIZARD WHO LOVES A BLIZZARD by Shelley Larkin and Michael John Sullivan is a simply adorable kids book. I loved the winter theme as it made it perfect for the holiday season and as the owner of a crested gecko and a bearded dragon I was very happy to see an animal main character that was not the normal puppy or kitten! The pictures were all very cute and well done and the word choice was very age appropriate.

My Review

The Ashes Book 3 of the Feud Trilogy By: Kyle Prue was a great end to a simply breath taking series! I loved this author's take on the whole chosen one thing it reminded me a bit of the chosen one set up in Harry Potter and Star Wars, yet I found this one to be less predictable. I found the evolution of Neil Vapros from book one right to the end of book three to be very well done and it was Neil that kept me listening to the audio book and coming back book after book. The narrator did an amazing job with him as a character in the way that he made him truly come alive for me.

Meet the Author:

Alan Creed fell in love with storytelling after seeing Star Wars for the first time as a child. When he was ten years old, his tutor asked him to write sentences containing three words: Ocean, Desert and Jungle. Instead of sentences, Alan wrote a 103-page story entitled Journey through the Desert. That's when he knew he wanted to be a writer. My Review

The Winter Series Book 2 by Alex Callister was a great addition to the series. I loved book one, but book two here quickly became my favorite and it wanting to read/listen to the rest of the series. The narrator did a simply amazing job in bringing both Winter and Guardsman to life. I really loved the cat and mouse chase with how I was never quite sure who was the cat and who was the mouse.

Synopsis

“What do you get when you cross Abraham Lincoln with Sherlock Holmes? The alchemy of creative genius. Matthews brings us to the intersection of history and fiction in this beautifully written epic full of unfathomable twists and turns. It’s elementary: this book is sensational.” (Jim Campbell, syndicated radio host and author of Madoff Talks: Uncovering the Untold Story Behind the Most Notorious Ponzi Scheme in History)

“President Lincoln is assassinated in his private box at Ford’s!”

When those harrowing words ring out during a children’s entertainment in Washington on the evening of April 14, 1865, a quick-thinking young chemist from England named Johnnie Holmes grabs the 12-year-old son of the dying president, races the boy to safety, and soon finds himself enlisted in the most infamous manhunt in history.

One Must Tell the Bees is the untold story of Sherlock Holmes’ journey from the streets of London to the White House of Abraham Lincoln and, in company with a freed slave named after the dead president, their breathtaking pursuit and capture of John Wilkes Booth. It is the very first case of the man who would become known to the world as Sherlock Holmes, and as listeners will discover, it will haunt him until his very last.

At a time when Western history is being reexamined and retold, old heroes cast aside and statues torn down, and even the legacy of Abraham Lincoln, “the Great Emancipator”, is questioned, One Must Tell the Bees is a timely reminder that our history deserves to be understood before it is entirely undone.

About the Author: J. Lawrence Matthews

J. Lawrence Matthews has contributed fiction to the New York Times and NPR and is the author of three non-fiction books as Jeff Matthews. “One Must Tell the Bees” is his first novel. Written  at a time when American history is being scrutinized and recast in the light of 21st Century mores, this fast-paced account of Sherlock Holmes’s visit to America during the final year of the Civil War illuminates the profound impact of Abraham Lincoln and his Emancipation Proclamation on slavery, the war and America itself. Matthews is now researching the sequel, which takes place a bit further afield—in Florence, Mecca and Tibet—but readers may contact him at jlawrencematthews@gmail.com. Those interested in the history behind “One Must Tell the Bees” will find it at jlawrencematthews.com.

My Review

One Must Tell the Bees by J. Lawrence Matthews was a great audiobook. I have been a Sherlock Holmes fan for quite a while so I really enjoyed the premise of the book. However, this was the first one I've read/listened to that involved these events. I really enjoyed the newness of it!I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Books Forward. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
