The human body is a complex and amazing figure. For artists in training, the first step to creating wonderful pieces is to understand basic human anatomy and movement. This highly illustrated reference book provides artists and art students with a comprehensive display of the human anatomy and different types of motion, inspiring more realistic and energetic figurative art. In Classic Human Anatomy in Motion, fine artist, instructor and long-time expert on drawing and painting human anatomy Valerie Winslow offers artists everything they need to realistically draw the human figure as it is affected by movement. Winslow pairs accessible explanations with hundreds of life drawings—both quick poses and long studies—along with charts and diagrams showing the various anatomical and structural components. Featuring sections on bones and joint movement, muscle groups, surface form and soft tissue characteristics, structure, and movement, each chapter builds an artistic understanding of how motion transforms the human figure. Perfect for fine artists, commercial illustrators, and animators alike, this guide reveals how the nuts and bolts of anatomy can create a sense of expressive vibrancy in one’s art.
